East Phillips community center gets $5,000 from Midtown Phillips NRP grant funding

The Midtown Phillips Neighborhood Association will contribute $5,000 in a Neighborhood Revitalization Program grant for the East Phillips Park Cultural and Community Center (EPPCCC).

The funds will go toward the design and construction of the new 14,000 sq. ft. building, which is scheduled to be under construction in 2010. The EPPCCC will feature a teen space, computer lab, programmable rooms, kitchen and a gym.

Total funding for the building is $3.5 million from the State Legislature, $319,000 from the MPRB’s 2008 Capital Improvement Program, $180,000 from East Phillips Improvement Coalition (EPIC) and $100,000 from Toyota Environmental Funds.

East Phillips Park is located at 2307 17th Ave. S.
