The Hiawatha Driving Range has evolved over the years and was completely renovated during the 1999 and 2000 seasons. The state-of-the art driving range features a 50-station, natural grass driving range built into a beautiful tree-lined area of the golf course. The driving range also features two very large putting greens and three smaller greens, incorporating six sand traps, which may be used for short irons, chipping and bunker practice.
All the improvements are part of a joint MPRB and First Tee program geared toward providing inner-city youth with the opportunity to participate in the great game of golf. The driving range is also home to junior golf programs, adult lessons, and individual private lessons.
Historical Profile: More information about this and other parks is included in Parks, Lakes, Trails and So Much More, a richly detailed account of the histories of Minneapolis’ renown recreational system. (See Lake Hiawatha section.)
